sweet and crunchy candied nuts

One of my favorite pizza places in New Haven carries this amazingly incredible salad with mixed greens, dried berries, crumbled bleu cheese, and these sweet, crunchy, heavenly candied nuts. I have always wanted to try them out at home to change up our salad game and last night I did! They were so delicious that John has requested we always keep them in the house, plus, they kept the kitchen smelling sweet and nutty all night long! Here’s my recipe for Candied Nuts.


Candied Mixed Nuts


3-4 cups mixed nuts, roughly chopped (I used walnuts and pecans because it’s what I had!)

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup light brown sugar

1/2 TBS cinnamon

Punch of salt

1 egg white

1/2 tsp vanilla

Splash of water


Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

In a small bowl mix the sugars, cinnamon, and salt together.

In a separate large bowl, whisk the egg white, vanilla, and water together until slightly frothed. Add in the nuts and toss to coat. Sprinkle in the sugar mixture and stir to coat.

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Layer the nuts in a single layer. Bake 45 minutes, turning every 15 minutes.


A one pan wonder

These bite sized beauties will become your new addiction guaranteed! With a few simple ingredients that you probably already have lying around the kitchen, these nuts are transformed in under an hour. And while the sugar makes them sweet, this snack is full of heart healthy fats and protein. Give your boring salad a little pizazz with this recipe tonight!
